With the arrival of the summer, Sorrento is offering to its citizens and visitors a variety of events. Twenty one performances will make up the Sorrento Festival, the new name for The Musical  Summer Festival, starting in july and ending in September. There is some confusion about the definition Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods): some  people use this name for the route Santa Maria del Castello, Forestale, Capo Muro, Bomerano; others, having scruples, add “Alto” (high) and then call the itinerary Bomerano – Nocella: Sentiero degli Dei “Basso” (low).

In Castellammare di Stabia, on the hill of Varano, 2 kilometers from the train station Via Nocera,   is the archaeological site of Stabiae. Buried with Herculaneum, Pompeii and Oplonti, by the Vesuvius eruption in 79 BC it  was rediscovered in 1881. It is an ancient urban centre, that was  a holiday destination for Roman bourgeois.
